AFSHAR - IRAN
The historical
background of the Afshari is a combination of Turkic and Persian heritage. The Afshari
tribe moved into Persia during the reign of Shah Abbas the Great, and settled mainly in
the region between Shiraz and Kirman. They lead either a nomadic or semi nomadic
existence. The design of this particular Afshar reflects their cultural influence, and
bring together Turkoman and Persian patterns often in infinite variations between the
stylized and naturalistic floral motifs. A carpet of great vitality and character. Very
collectable and in mint condition. Late last century.
