| PERSIAN BAKHTIAR: A magnificent product of an ancient semi
nomadic tribe who inhabited the Chahar Mahal (South West Iran). This particular
carpet typifies the examples from the Chahar Mahal, which comprised various ethnic tribes
who embraced the traditional Bakhtiyari design. The characteristics of this Bakhtiar is
that it is made on a cotton warp and weft, with a single weft between each row of knots
and the designs are floral.
This, of course, differs from the
true tribal Bakhtiyari's from the Zagros Mountains, of which, a perfect example is in
Hassan's Choice under the Persian Tribal Style.
However, the carpet above is of
excellent quality and with wonderful aesthetics.
