May we suggest a few simple ways to maintain your hand-knotted rug and enjoy its
beauty for years.
URINE
Absorb excess moisture with a white cloth or
towel. Sponge the area with clean, lukewarm water. Repeat this sequence a
few times.
Mix 2 tablespoon of white vinegar with 1
pint (0.5 liter) warm water and work into the soiled area. After a few
minutes, sponge area with clean lukewarm water. Repeat if necessary.
Blot dry by placing layers of white blotting
paper or white cotton cloth, above and below the wet area. Apply pressure
with heavy books. Dry on flat, clean surface in the sun if possible.
Absorb the excess moisture. Sponge the area
thoroughly with clean, warm water.
Mix 1 tablespoon of non-alkaline detergent
with 1 pint (0.5 liter) of warm water and apply to the soiled area. Repeat
if necessary.
Blot area with a white cloth or towel. Blow
dry with a hairdryer set on the lowest setting.
COCOA,
CHOCOLATE, GRAVY, SHOE POLISH
Absorb excess moisture. Sponge the spot with
clean, lukewarm water to remove as much of the spillage as possible.
Mix 1 cup of soap less carpet shampoo or
detergent to 4 cups of lukewarm water and rub into soiled area.
Rinse well with clean, lukewarm water. Blot
area to dry it thoroughly.
BLOOD, EGGS, WET GELATIN
Absorb excess moisture. Sponge the spot with
cool, clean water to remove as much of the spillage as possible.
Mix ˝ cup of salt with 1 quart of water (1
liter) and sponge the area with this solution.
Rinse with cool water and blot dry. If the
stain persists, mix 2 teaspoons of non-alkaline detergent with 1 pint of
water (0.5 liter). Sponge the area. Rinse.
NAIL POLISH, LIPSTICK
As oriental carpets are made from natural
materials, nail polish can be removed from them with nail polish remover.
Apply nail polish remover with an
eyedropper.
After a few minutes, blot the area dry with
a cloth.
