Nain is a small village located in central Iran that has relatively recently become a renowned center for carpet weaving. Production only began in the 1930’s, but Nain rapidly achieved prominence and high reputation for its production of remarkably fine classical rugs. Material as well as the workmanship are of the highest class and with high knot density. Nain rugs have since become almost legendary for their exceptional fineness and superb construction.

This particular Persian Nain is a very well-made masterpiece with a fine knot density of approximately 400-430 knots per sq inch, woven with tight and compact workmanship. The incredibly refined craftsmanship results in a very clear and crisp definition of its exquisite architecture featuring an elegant floral field of interconnected scrolling vines with sprays of leaves and flowers, against a taupe background which is a very unique and unusual colour for a Nain. A remarkable work of art.
